Autumn is such a beautifully confusing time. All in one Saturday afternoon we pulled perfectly good summertime flowers from our flower beds, knowing the frost is coming and our yard work time is limited. Then we loaded the grandkids in the car and trucked on down Main Street to the pumpkin patch, where the kids all picked pumpkins to carve. There are seven orange creations out on the kitchen island now, and a large red bowl of pumpkin seeds soaking in brine. The kitchen table, meanwhile, is covered with Christmas…loaded down with postcards and address labels and hundreds of stamps. When I have fifteen minutes I plunk myself down and label, preparing for the mailing that announces my Christmas concerts. It feels like we’ve gone from summer to winter in one crisp autumn afternoon. The best part about it is that I did it all with the people I love. And thinking ahead, to the concerts, I get to do that with people I love as well! This year Mark Robinette, (my brother from another mother), Kelly DeHaan, and my old compadre, Merlyn Schofield will join me to make merry with music. Additional musicians pending. The concerts will be Friday evening, the day after Thanksgiving at 7:30 pm. Then Saturday Nov 30 at 3 pm; and Monday Dec 2nd at 7:30 pm. All at Farmington Arts Center in Farmington UTAH.
I’m also excited to have been asked by the fabulous Utah Voices Choir to be their guest artist for their Christmas Concert. Mark, Kelly and Merlyn will also join me for that performance. It’s a whole different experience, and I’ll be doing a handful of songs compared to my own concerts. But you also get a fabulous choir, and the magical director Michael Huff! That concert will be at the U of U Libby Gardner Hall on Saturday evening, November 30, a few hours after our matinee of my own concert in Farmington.
Reminiscing through music is a dandy way to ring in the holiday season, and I hope you’ll join us for one of our shows.
Tickets are $12 for General Seating and $17 for Preferred (reserved with your name on it). Preferred seating is limited. All seating is limited, because the hall only holds 300 people. Last year all three shows sold out in advance. So if you’re so inclined, give a call to Farmington Parks and Recreation and save your spot: 801-451-0953.
Meanwhile, I’ll be writing, arranging and rehearsing with people I love!
