It is rare, I know, to have such an opportunity as I have had; to be surrounded by amazing musicians at the top of their craft and artistry, to be in a space designed and dedicated to capturing the best of music from the best musicians, to be able to create what my heart wants to say in a soothing way…all this comes to life for me in Metro Studios, with my good friend Mark Stephenson at the helm. I am old enough, and hopefully wise enough, to understand the uniqueness of this gift and cherish it. We’ve just finished months of studio time with the magical Michael Dowdle. whose guitar and mandolin work is stellar. Mike is amazing! He will take what I have created and make it shine. He is one of a kind, and his talent is matched by his warmth and wisdom in matters far more important than music. I love working with Mike, and Mark. And Merlyn Schofield, Mark Robinette, among others.
Next week Aaron Ashton will bring his fiddle and other stringed instruments into the studio. It’s like creating a magical layer cake! What fun!
If all goes well, we will have our new Lullaby and Love Songs album done in time for a Holiday release at our concerts this year. Concerts will likely be in Salt Lake City on Thanksgiving weekend, and one smaller concert at Farmington Arts Center on Monday, Dec 8th. I’ll keep you posted.
