It’s a rare artist who is also a good business person, and I am not that rare artist. Still, when you pour your energy and emotion into any creative work, you risk a stab to the ego, so maybe it’s just self-defense that makes most artists bad business people. I am THE WORST at updating my website. If anyone ever wanted to see who I am and what I’m up to, this is sadly not the best place to find that info. I update in fits and spurts, the way I clean my house. I apologize.
That paragraph immediately above is a sorry disclaimer. Now on to my semi-annual update.
I’ve been in the studio this summer, recording six songs for a new EP (a small album). The plan is to release it in November, at my Christmas concerts. All six songs are ones written for or about people I love, from my mom, to my fifth-grade teacher, to Merlyn Schofield – my longtime singing partner, to Vietnam POW hero Jay Hess, and more. I’ve left a good chunk of my heart in this project, and I hope you’ll take good care of it if you choose to take it.
TICKETS to my Christmas concert, for those who follow this website, go on sale October 8th. They will be available to the general public October 15th. This year we are planning to take you all HOME for CHRISTMAS: Songs and stories that tug at the heart, evoke a chuckle, and take us back to the places we all started. We are especially excited to honor Lt Col Jay C. Hess, who was shot down 50 years ago and spent over 5 years in POW camps in Vietnam. We will have a special guest performer to commemorate that. I’m excited to share new tunes with you, as well as old favorites. If you’ve been to my concerts before, and choose to come again, we encourage you to share the love and bring a friend or family who might benefit from a warm fuzzy. If you purchase ten or more tickets email me at cori@coriconnors.comand I will have a complimentary signed copy of my new EP and a signed copy of Pontiac Rocket waiting for you at the concert.
The musicians who join me on this recording project are the best around, and I am blessed to have some of them joining me on stage for the Christmas Concert. Master musicians like Nicole Pinnell on cello, Aaron Ashton on violin and viola, Mark Robinette on bass and vocals, Kelly DeHaan on piano and vocals, Michael Dowdle on guitars and mandolin, Todd Sorenson on drums, Kate Connors on vocal harmonies and Mark Stephenson at the helm in the studio. What an amazing team!
As fast as this past summer sped by, I expect that the day after tomorrow snow will be falling and pumpkins will be replaced with Christmas wreaths and sparkling lights. I love and cherish all of it, as I cherish each of you.
Be well and do good.
