If there’s anything this worldwide pandemic has taught me, it’s that my home, my family, my friends and my faith are essential to my survival. Gratitude for all of these is central. All other things, even music, gathering, and creative expression, are sweetenings. With gratitude that the essentials in my life are intact, it’s time to pull out the “sweets”. My fingers are working the strings of my guitars. I’ve written a bit, and am craving making music with my friends.
Right about when I had given up hope for any kind of Christmas Concert this year, Tia from Farmington City Parks and Rec called, asking if we might be able to create some sort of concert event that would work during this pandemic. After a few meetings, a lot of thinking and serious pondering, I agreed to join the Farmington team again this year and offer a special kind of Christmas concert.
Next was to see if my friends Mark Robinette and Kelly DeHaan would agree to jump on board. With a nod from both, we have moved ahead with plans for a Covid Conscious Christmas Concert.
Concert dates are Friday Dec 4, Sat Dec 5 and Monday Dec 7th at the Farmington Arts Center, 120 S Main in Farmington UT. Showtime is 7:30 pm
Because of Health Department requirements, we will be able to seat 1/3 of our typical audience. Seats will not be sold separately. Instead we are offering Villages, where you may sit with the healthy people you are used to spending time with. Each village will be separated from the others by at least 10 feet. The hall will be sanitized between concerts. Options for tickets to the live show are below.
To reach a larger audience, Farmington is offering virtual concert tickets. The show will be broadcast in real time during the three concert dates. Virtual tickets are $30 a household or $10/person and can be obtained at Farmington Parks and Recreation starting Nov 2nd.

OUR ORPHANS IN AFRICA
Each year all the money earned in our concession sales have gone to pay for schooling for our beloved orphan children in Kenya Africa and to help build houses in Mexico for underprivileged families. We sponsor two orphan children specifically, paying for their tuition each year. This year I am assembling Orphan Care Packages that you will receive with a donation of $50. Each package includes something to make your virtual concert night more of a treat:
- A jar of my home made raspberry freezer jam
- A loaf of my sister’s home made bread
- Stevens delicious Hot Chocolate
- Candy canes and marshmallows
- A signed CD
- A chance to interact virtually and request songs during the concert
By the way, we hold food handlers permits and use safe and sanitary practices.
Orphan Care Packages may be purchased with or without ticket purchases. They may be picked up at Farmington Parks and Recreation near Station Park in Farmington, or may be shipped or hand delivered for an additional fee. You may purchase multiple packages as gifts, with our appreciation. (Lifting Lives in Africa is a non-profit 501C3 organization). You may also purchase gift ticket codes for family and friends. PURCHASE HERE beginning Nov 2nd. Packages will be available the day of show.
